There is no chance of depriving qualified players for the sake of the country: Sports Advisor

Coach Javier Cabrera did not keep Italian expatriate footballer Fahmidul Islam in the main squad for the India match. The team management believes that he needs some more time to be fully prepared for the national team. But a section of the country’s football fans have expressed their anger over Fahmidul’s exclusion.

That section of the fans is blaming the ‘syndicate’ for Fahmidul’s exclusion. This time the issue of syndicate has also come up in the voice of Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud. In a meeting with Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal, the Youth and Sports Advisor has instructed to be careful about syndicates.

After a meeting held at the capital’s Nagar Bhaban at 2:30 pm on Wednesday (March 19), the BFF president said, ‘There is no chance of syndicating in the Football Federation. The federation will take action if there is any sign that everyone will take their place according to their qualifications.

Referring to the issue of Fahmidul, he said, “This is not a crisis, we did not exclude Fahmidul. He is talented, but we wanted to give him more time. Bangladesh has a match at home next June, we may see him on the field very soon. I will tell the fans, there is nothing to be disappointed.”

Regarding Fahmidul’s exclusion, sports advisor Asif Mahmud said, “There is no opportunity to deprive qualified players in the interest of the country. The BFF must keep a vigilant eye on ensuring that no one falls victim to nepotism or syndicates in player selection. If evidence of corruption is found in this regard, the government will take action against those involved.”
