Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach) Michael Martin has said that Israel’s ‘horrific’ bombing of Gaza should stop. He called on European leaders, saying, ‘To stop the ongoing massacre and genocide in Gaza, we must say – stop now’.
Michael Martin said, ‘Many innocent people have been killed in the attacks in Gaza over the past 48 hours. And recent statements by Israeli leaders indicate that they are imposing ‘collective punishment’ on the Palestinians in Gaza.’
The Irish Prime Minister made these remarks while speaking to reporters ahead of a European Council meeting in Brussels on Thursday.
He said, ‘This is appalling. It must stop. Europe must speak out against this massacre and genocide.’
European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday to discuss next steps on competitive markets and defense.
At the time, Michael Martin also said that all prisoners in Gaza must be released and the second phase of the ceasefire must be moved forward very quickly.
He said, “After the ceasefire of January 19, many people returned to their homes in the hope that they would regain peace and comfort. But the indiscriminate bombing has destroyed that hope.”
The occupying and barbaric Israel has launched new airstrikes in Gaza since last Tuesday. In which more than 710 Palestinians have been killed and more than 900 injured. Which completely breaks the ceasefire agreement of January 19.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children. The number of injured is more than 112,000. Source: Anadolu
