The government has decided to go 100% online tender to bring transparency in the government procurement process and break the tender syndicate. In addition, several important decisions were taken in the advisory council meeting, including amending the Women and Child Abuse Act, simplifying the registration process of abandoned houses, and extending the Eid holiday.
The meeting held at the office of the Chief Advisor in Tejgaon on Thursday (March 20) morning was presided over by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting approved the amendment to the Women and Child Abuse Act. It has been decided to amend the Public Procurement Ordinance to ensure competition in the government procurement process and break the syndicate. As part of this, the provision of rejecting bids less than 10 percent of the estimated value has been lifted.
In addition, the old matrix used for evaluating previous work will be changed and a new capacity matrix will be introduced so that the same organization does not get work repeatedly. Although 65 percent of government tenders are currently online, steps have been taken to increase this to 100 percent.
The meeting also decided to bring amendments to remove the legal complications of those allotted abandoned houses registering their names in their own names.
In addition, for the convenience of the public, the Eid holiday has been extended by one day to April 3. In addition, an optional holiday has been announced on the social day of all communities living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
