National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that the names of two accused have been heard in the gang-rape of the daughter of a martyr in the July Revolution in Dumki, Patuakhali. One has already been arrested. We demand that the other accused be arrested within the next 24 hours and that the strictest punishment be provided to prevent not only this incident but also such incidents. We want the law changes that the government is thinking of or has decided to change to be implemented as soon as possible.

He said these things while exchanging views with journalists in the hall room of Patuakhali Medical College Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The incident of gang-rape of the daughter of Jasim Uddin (17) of Dumki Upazila of Shaheed Patuakhali, who was shot by the police during the anti-discrimination student-public movement in Dhaka, was picked up from the street. He inquired about the treatment of the victim undergoing treatment at Patuakhali Medical College Hospital at 1:30 pm.

Dr. Tasnim Zara said, those who commit crimes will roam the society completely. And those who are persecuted will have to cry and seek justice. This is not acceptable in society in any way. We have to overcome this situation. Those who are guilty must be identified and brought to justice. We have to get out of the culture of impunity that existed in the past years.

Dr. Zara further said, quoting the victim, that the victim told him- ‘I do not want justice as a girl. I want justice for me as a common person of Bangladesh.’ We have to remember that if justice is delayed, it is a kind of taking sides with injustice. Justice is the fundamental right of everyone.

NCP Joint Convener and Assistant Attorney General Mujahidul Islam Shahin said, legally, whatever cooperation is required or required from the NCP, we will provide it from our party; So that the case is tried fairly.

On the other hand, a central delegation led by Hasan Mamun came to Patuakhali on the instructions of Tarique Rahman to inquire about the victim. They inquired about the victim at the hospital at 3 pm.

During the visit of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam to Patuakhali, Abdul Hannan Masud, Dr. Tasnim Zara and some other leaders were present.

According to the victim and police sources, after visiting the grave of Shahid Jasim Uddin in Ward No. 5 of Pangasia Union of the upazila, in the evening of the incident, she was going to Ward No. 1 of Pangasia Union, her maternal grandmother. On the way, the accused followed her from Naldoani. Suddenly, Shakib and Sifat grabbed her from behind and took her to the neighboring Jalil Munshi’s garden. At one stage, the gang raped the girl. The miscreants even threatened to take her nude photos and spread them on social media.

The victim appeared at the police station on Wednesday and filed a complaint. The police accepted the case at 3 pm. The accused, Shakib Munshi, was arrested.

Police said that efforts are underway to arrest the other accused. The victim is undergoing treatment at the One Stop Crisis Center of Patuakhali Government Medical College Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
