Two Bangladeshi smugglers were injured in a shooting across the Indian border in Bichnakandi of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Morki Tila area of ​​the Bichnakandi border.

The shot victims are Yamin Mia (22), son of Zakir Mia of the Kulumchhara Par area of ​​Bichnakandi union in Gowainghat upazila, and his uncle Akhter Hossain. Locals said that the two were involved in Indian sugar smuggling.

Local resident Shamim Mia said that the two were shot while trying to bring sugar to the border. They are secretly receiving treatment in Sylhet city.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh BGB and local sources, a group of Bangladeshi smugglers including Yamin Mia and Akhter Hossain went to bring sugar to the Morkitila area, 200 yards inside India from the main pillar number 1264 of the border in the Bichnakandi BOP area of ​​Bichnakandi Union. At that time, the smugglers got into an argument with the Khasias over money transactions. At one stage, the Khasias fired several bullets at them. Two of them were shot.

Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque said, two Bangladeshis were shot across the border. I have heard that two were injured in the bullets fired by the Khasias at one stage during an argument with the Indian Khasia over smuggling transactions. A protest has been sent to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in this regard.
