Dhaka //
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, our movement has become more intense because the army was on the side of the people of the country in the 1971, 90 movements and the 2024 movement. Fascist Hasina was forced to flee. Therefore, this institution must be given dignity and respect.
He said these things while distributing iftar among ordinary pedestrians and marginalized people in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, the capital, on Sunday.
This iftar was distributed at the initiative of the recently former central executive committee of the Association of Engineers Bangladesh.
Rizvi said, Sheikh Hasina fled in the student-public movement in July-August. The country has become free from fascists. Therefore, we all have to be tolerant. To strengthen democracy, we have to fight now for the work ahead, namely free and fair elections, a society based on justice, the rule of law and a democratic society that ensures justice for every person. Our struggle is the struggle to establish justice. Our struggle is the struggle to establish complete democracy. Therefore, we must show such tolerance in our discussions and conversations that no chaos is created in the state.
He said, we have to be more careful that we do not cause any damage to the institutions that have fought for democracy. We have to remember this. In 1971, our country’s army was above all with the people of this country and an army officer, Major (Ziaur Rahman), declared independence. The Bangladesh army has always worked for the people of the country. We also saw in the 1990 movement that when the movement was at its peak, the army took a stand for the people. In 2024, we also saw this army taking a stand for the people. Because they were on the side of the people, our movement became more intense and the fascist Hasina was forced to flee. Therefore, this institution must be given dignity, we must show respect.
Present at the Iftar distribution ceremony were – Engineer Alamgir Hasin Ahmed, the recently former Secretary General of the Association of Engineers Bangladesh, Engineer AKM Zahirul Islam, Engineer Helal Uddin Talukder, Engineer Motahar Hossain, Engineer ATM Tanvir-ul Hasan Tamal, Engineer Mostafa-e-Zaman Selim, Engineer Biju Barua, Engineer KM Asaduzzaman Chunnu, Engineer Muhammad Ahsanul Russell, Engineer Nazmul Huda Khandaker, Engineer Abu Hossain Hitlu, Engineer Kamrul Hasan Khan Saiful, Engineer Sabbir Ahmed Osmani, Engineer Nur Amin Lalon, Engineer Shamim Rabbi Sanchay, and others.
