Egypt has put forward a new proposal to restore the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The US and the Palestinian independence movement Hamas support the proposal, but there has been no official response from Israel yet.
This information was reported by the news agencies Reuters and the Jerusalem Post in a report on Monday.
According to the report, the new plan states that Hamas will release five Israeli prisoners every week and Israel will implement the second phase of the ceasefire after the first week.
This Egyptian proposal basically sets a timetable. Through which the process of releasing all prisoners will be completed in exchange for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. Egyptian authorities have also said that the US will provide guarantees to ensure the implementation of this plan.
No response from Israel
Although the US and Hamas have shown a positive attitude towards this new Egyptian proposal. However, Israel has not yet made any official comment.
Hamas claims that Israel has shamefully violated the January ceasefire agreement. Yet they (Hamas) are still ready to continue negotiations and are reviewing the proposal of US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
What will be the next step?
If this Egyptian proposal is implemented, the subsequent situation of the war in Gaza could be determined. However, Israel’s decision has now become the most important issue.
Meanwhile, the Israeli attack on Gaza continues amid the ongoing talks in Egypt. In the last 24 hours, 61 more Palestinians, including two journalists, have been killed by barbaric forces in attacks. In addition, 134 people have been injured. Source: Reuters
