So far, 3,03 people have been reported dead in the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. 4,639 people have been injured. Al Jazeera reports.

In addition, about a hundred people are still missing. The Myanmar junta administration reported this information on Tuesday. It has also been reported that the death toll may rise further.

Meanwhile, Bianca Drogsch, assistant head of the German embassy in Yangon, told German media Deutsche Welle that the death toll is very likely to increase. She said, “The death toll in Mandalay alone is estimated to be between 10,000 and 100,000.”

Teams from home and abroad are carrying out rescue operations. Survivors are being searched from under the rubble.

In addition to Mandalay, the capital Naypyidaw was also severely damaged by this earthquake. This area, located 270 km from Mandalay, is very close to the epicenter of the earthquake. Local firefighters rescued a 63-year-old woman alive from the rubble today, about 91 hours after the earthquake. The chances of finding anyone alive from the rubble have become much lower since the 72-hour mark.
