Expatriate Bangladeshis sent a huge amount of remittances to the country last month, focusing on Eid-ul-Fitr. In March this year, the highest remittances came in a single month in the country’s history. This information was revealed in the latest updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.

In March this year, expatriates sent remittances to the country worth more than $3 billion (3 billion). Last December, remittances worth $2.64 billion arrived in the country.

In the first month of the current fiscal year, remittances of $191 million 37 million 70 thousand arrived in July, $222 million 13 million 20 thousand arrived in August, $240 million 41 million in September, $239 million 50 million in October, $2.2 billion in November, $2.64 billion in December, $2.19 billion in January and $2.53 billion in February.

The report said that for the first time in the country’s history, remittances in a month have reached 3.29 billion (3.29 billion) dollars, breaking all past records. 40 thousand 138 crore taka in Bangladeshi currency (at the rate of 122 taka). This record amount of remittances was sent by expatriates last March.

Earlier, in March last year, the amount of remittances was 199 million dollars. That is, remittances have increased by 64.7 percent over the year.

In July 2020, during the Corona period, remittances of 2.59 billion dollars were received. That record was broken in December, the month of victory in 2024.

Remittances came in for the entire period of December, the last month of last year, about 2.64 billion dollars. This time, the amount of remittances has exceeded three billion dollars, breaking all past records.
