Bangladesh is ranked 47th in the list of the most powerful countries in the world. The US-based media outlet US News has made this list. The top five are the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and Germany respectively.
The ranking was made based on the leadership, economic and political influence, strong exports, international alliances and military power of various countries around the world in 2024. In addition, the foreign policy, military budget and global acceptance of the countries were given importance.
Neighboring country India is ranked 12th. However, the names of Pakistan, North Korea, Bhutan and Maldives were not found in the list of 89 countries.
War-torn Ukraine is ranked 14th on the list. And Israel is ranked 10th.
In addition, Saudi Arabia in the Middle East is ranked 9th, Iran 16th, United Arab Emirates 11th, Turkey 17th, Qatar 19th, Kuwait 25th, Egypt 32nd and Jordan 50th among the top 50 countries.
Meanwhile, the Asian country Malaysia is ranked 43rd and Indonesia, the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, is ranked 35th.
In addition, the overall ranking shows that in 2024, Bangladesh was ranked 71st out of 89 countries, but the previous year it was ranked 69th out of 87 countries. That is, Bangladesh has fallen two places compared to 2023. And in the list of powerful countries, Bangladesh was 40th in 2023. In 2024, it fell seven places to 47th.
