Continuity of democracy must be maintained: Rizvi

Dhaka //

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, we think necessary reforms must be made. But all of them are not permanent arrangements. Reforms are an ongoing process. Do as much as possible now. Then, those who come to power will come up with various demands, political parties will make reforms based on them. But the continuity of democracy cannot be stopped. The continuity of democracy must be maintained.

He said these things while inspecting the ‘Face of Fascism’ motif that was burnt at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on Sunday.

Commenting that everyone should be careful so that the achievements of the mass uprising of students and the public are not destroyed in the clutches of fascism, Rizvi said, there are teachers and students who have agitated for democracy – we may all have differences of opinion. But fascism will not be revealed. Everyone may have differences with everyone, but we are ready to give for freedom of expression. Our cultural heritage, pride, and achievements should not be destroyed by the clutches of fascism. Our cultural heritage is as flowing as the Padma and Meghna, we will keep it flowing.

He said, after August 5, free air has been created, now we are waiting for a vibrant democracy in a more free environment. We have repeatedly called on the interim government to make necessary reforms and quickly organize elections. While trying to achieve the demand, Ilias Ali was disappeared. Suman was disappeared. Numerous leaders and activists of ours have been disappeared.

Rizvi said, there was no humanity and justice in the country, Sheikh Hasina destroyed it. She made the court an office of the Awami League. We have to return from that place. He said that art, literature, and cultural practices will flourish where there is democracy. Where there is democracy, no one will burn anything with fire. Where everyone will build.

BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, etc. were present at the time.
