Dhaka //

Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch said that fruitful talks have been held with Bangladesh.

She made this statement after meeting the Foreign Affairs Advisor on Thursday afternoon. The meeting began at around 10:45 pm at the state guest house Padma.

Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin led Bangladesh and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch led her country in the meeting. Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, international relations analysts are viewing such talks between the two countries after a long time from a positive perspective. They say that both countries should focus on increasing Dhaka’s commercial relations with Islamabad. Besides, unresolved issues of 1971 may also come up in the discussions.

International relations analyst Shahab Enam said that the Pakistan Foreign Secretary’s visit to Bangladesh is positive for the country. Since we want to accelerate the economy, this discussion is important. We also need to talk about unresolved issues with them, including the Liberation War.

In addition, there may be discussions on operating direct flights. This will expand trade and commerce. Along with this, import-export will also have to be discussed. There is a demand for Bangladeshi products in Pakistan.

The last Bangladesh-Pakistan Foreign Secretary-level meeting was held in Islamabad in November 2010.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Dhaka at the end of this month. This will be the first visit by a Pakistani Foreign Minister to Bangladesh after 2012.
