Suchintapal Chowdhury, a journalist for the influential Bengali daily ‘Sambad Pratidin’, has come to Bangladesh to collect news about the New Year celebrations. But after returning from Dhaka, a heated discussion and debate has started over the report he published.
The report has revealed information about Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, administration, corruption and the failure of religious politics. The report begins with the sentence, “Father is disgraced for the girl.”
Through this sentence, the author draws a distinction between the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina’s activities. The report says, “Today, Sheikh Hasina is being blamed for the political deadlock, corruption and lack of leadership by the leaders and activists of her own party, Awami League.”

‘Sambad Pratidin’ claims that disgruntled leaders and activists within the Awami League are calling Sheikh Hasina ‘nonsense.’
The report further states, “Despite their respect for Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s people’s trust in Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana has been shattered.”
While in Dhaka, the Indian journalist also conducted some field interviews among minority communities in Bangladesh.
He wrote, “Several members of the Hindu community told the Indian media that the Awami League has used religious minorities as political shields for its own interests.”
The report also mentions, “In many cases, local Awami League leaders were behind the vandalism of Hindu temples.”
However, the newspaper also admitted that the situation has stabilized somewhat due to the tough role of the new government and the army.
Sheikh Hasina is also responsible for the spread of religious extremism. The newspaper writes, “Hasina has used religion only to sustain politics, the results of which are terrible today.”
The report also blames the interests of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana for the deterioration of relations with India. “They have failed to establish transparent and respectful relations with neighboring countries to ensure their political security.”
On the other hand, the report on the interim government led by Dr. Yunus is relatively positive. It says, “The new government is taking initiatives to build good relations with neighboring India. This is a timely change in all respects.”
