A BNP delegation went to Dumki, Patuakhali to stand by the grieving family of Lamia. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman stood by the grieving family of Lamia Akhter, daughter of Shaheed Jasim Uddin, who was shot by police in the mass uprising of the students and the public on 24th.

Led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Chief Advisor of ‘Amra BNP Paribas’, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the delegation went to Naldoani village of South Pangasia Union in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali on Sunday afternoon. At this time, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi conveyed the message of sympathy of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the family of Lamia Akhter.

He also handed over financial assistance to Shahid Jasim Uddin’s elderly father, Sobhan Howlader (Lamia Akhter’s grandfather).

Meanwhile, the delegation led by Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi participated in the funeral of Lamia Akhter at the local school ground at 8:45 pm today, Sunday. At this time, leaders and activists of Patuakhali district, Dumki upazila BNP and its affiliates, and officials of the Patuakhali district administration participated in the funeral.

After Lamia Akhter’s funeral, the delegation visited the grave of her father Jasim Uddin, who was shot dead by police during the mass uprising of the students of 24.

Incidentally, Lamia Akhter was found hanging from her rented house on Road No. 6 in Shekhertek in the capital Dhaka at around 10 pm on Saturday. Later, when she was taken to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, the doctor on duty declared her dead.

On the evening of March 18, miscreants raped Lamia in the Naldoani area of ​​Pangasia Union and threatened to post her nude photos on social media.
