Umama Fatima, the leader of the anti-discrimination student movement, has said that she has no affiliation with the new political party, the National Citizen Party (NCP).

She made the matter clear in a post on her Facebook account on Monday. In the post, Umama Fatima wrote, ‘A small announcement to everyone, I am not affiliated with the new political party, the NCP. Many of my acquaintances are with this party. Personally, I have no relationship with the NCP. Therefore, I request you not to present any suggestions, organizational talks or proposals related to the NCP to me. This will save both your and my time.’

Umama Fatima is a student of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Dhaka University. She served as the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement during the July Uprising. Before taking over as coordinator, he was the member secretary of the Dhaka University branch of the Students Federation (the student organization of the mass mobilization movement). After the coup in October last year, when the organizational structure of the anti-discrimination student movement was restructured, Umama was given the responsibility of spokesperson. At that time, he resigned from the post of the Students Federation.

Incidentally, the National Citizen Party (NCP) was launched on February 28 at the initiative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizen Committee. A large part of the central leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have joined the NCP. But Umama has not joined the party. Umama is still active in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The organizational structure of the platform may be restructured again. Sources say that Umama is a top candidate in the restructured committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
