BNP expresses gratitude to Qatar Emir

The party has expressed gratitude to the Qatar Emir for providing a special air ambulance to former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

After Begum Zia returned to the country on Tuesday, BNP Chairperson’s Media Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan said, “We had asked many times to take her abroad for better treatment, but they (the Awami government) did not give permission at that time. After the fall of the dictatorship, she (Begum Khaleda Zia) went to London for treatment. She has recovered a lot there.”

Shairul said, “We are grateful to the countrymen who have made many sacrifices. We are even more grateful to the Emir of Qatar, who provided a special air ambulance.”

The Qatar Emir’s special air ambulance carrying Begum Khaleda Zia landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 10:30 am yesterday. Her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman.

Meanwhile, after the airport formalities, she left the airport for her Gulshan residence Firoza at 11:20 am amidst the cheers of the leaders and activists. The convoy carrying her reached Firoza’s Gulshan residence at 1:25 pm, receiving a warm welcome from party leaders and activists along the way.

We are grateful to the countrymen who have made many sacrifices. We are even more grateful to the Emir of Qatar, who provided a special air ambulance.

Shairul Kabir, an official of the BNP Chairperson’s media wing, said that Khaleda Zia reached Firoza at 1:25 pm. She was accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman. In addition, party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders were also present.

Besides, leaders and activists have been flocking to the airport area since morning to wish Khaleda Zia. They are expressing relief that Begum Zia has recovered and returned to the country. The leaders and activists hope that she will play a role in bringing back the leadership of BNP and democracy.

Earlier, on Monday (May 5) afternoon, London time, Tarique Rahman himself drove his mother to Heathrow International Airport. It was emotional for Tarique Rahman, the eldest son who has been living abroad for 17 years, to bid farewell to his mother and wife Zubaida Rahman.

When their car reached the airport area, thousands of expatriate leaders and activists came to bid farewell to the BNP Chairperson. They chanted slogans and greeted her enthusiastically. Begum Zia was overwhelmed by the farewell reception of the expatriate Bangladeshis. At this time, the BNP Chairperson greeted the leaders and activists with a smiling face and waved her hand. Begum Zia also asked the leaders and activists to keep an eye on Tarique Rahman.

Khaleda Zia went to London on January 8 for advanced treatment. Knowing about her physical illness, the Emir of Qatar provided an air ambulance. She went to London on that. She returned home from London in the air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar.

Khaleda Zia returned home after spending 4 months in London with advanced medical treatment and closeness to her family. In addition to her two daughters-in-law, Medical Board member, UK BNP President MA Malek and General Secretary Kaiser M Ahmed also returned home.
