Police have arrested a youth named Bikash Dhar Deept (23) in Moulvibazar for making objectionable comments about Islam and the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) on social media.

The arrested Bikash Dhar had made a comment on a picture published on the official Facebook page of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 11, calling the Prophet of Muslims Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) a rapist.

In addition, another screenshot circulating on Facebook shows him insulting Muslims by calling them militants.

When the screenshot of Bikash Dhar’s comment on Facebook went viral in an instant, there was intense anger and protest among Muslims in different parts of the country, including Moulvibazar. Later, after intense anger and protest, he deleted his comment and posted a video on his Facebook ID apologizing.

In this incident, a person named Abdul Qadir Ratan of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila filed a complaint with Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station. Later, in view of this complaint, a case was registered with the police station under the Cyber ​​Security Act.

Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Md. Mahbubur Rahman said that the arrested Bikash Dhar has already posted a confession of his guilt. Yesterday, he appeared at the Moulvibazar Army camp with his family members. He said that the police took Bikash Dhar into police custody and interrogated him extensively. Later, based on the information he provided, two mobile phones used by him were seized from his maternal uncle’s house in Bahubal Police Station area of ​​Habiganj district.

Bikash Dhar is the son of Bidhan Dhar of Radhakantapur village of Deepta Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila. He will be handed over to the learned court on Friday (May 16).
