The elected government should take decisions on issues like the corridor and port. If the interim government wants to take a decision, it is necessary to take the opinions of all political parties. Jamaat does not support the extension of the interim government’s term. In addition, Jamaat will not support anything that goes against the interests of the country, said Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
The Jamaat Ameer said these words after exchanging views with tea workers in Kulaura, Moulvibazar on Sunday (May 25) afternoon.
The meeting, chaired by Upazila Jamaat Ameer and Assistant Professor Abdul Muntazim, was also attended by Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Sylhet Metropolitan Ameer Md. Fakhrul Islam, District Jamaat Ameer Engineer M. Sayed Ali, Secretary Principal Yamir Ali, former Upazila Jamaat Ameer Khandaker Abdus Sobhan, Lecturer Hamid Khan, current Secretary Belal Ahmed Chowdhury and District Chhatra Shibir President Md. Nizam Uddin among others.
At this time, he also said that Jamaat Islami wants a transparent and impartial election within the deadline given by the Chief Advisor from December to June 26.
Regarding the improvement of the living standards of tea workers and the establishment of civil rights, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Every citizen of the country will get equal rights. The basic rights of tea workers have not yet been ensured. The government has to take responsibility for them. If we get the responsibility through the people’s votes, their respectable life will be ensured and their children will be helped to develop their talents.
