The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has again pushed 121 Bangladeshis, including women and children, at the Barlekha border. They had nothing other than their clothes with them. In total, the BSF has pushed 277 Bangladeshis from India through various borders in Moulvibazar so far.
On Sunday (May 25) morning, the BSF pushed 42 people at the Pallathol border of Shahbazpur Union in Barlekha upazila and 79 at the Latu border, a total of 121 Bangladeshi citizens. The BGB detained them and first took them to the BOP. After that, they were handed over to the Barlekha police station. After initial questioning, they were identified as Bangladeshi citizens.
BGB sources said that the BGB detained 121 people, including women and children, while infiltrating through various areas of North Shahbazpur Union in the upazila.
BGB-52 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Mehedi Hasan confirmed the arrest of 121 people and said on Sunday afternoon that the detainees have been handed over to Barolekha Police Station.
Barolekha Police Station OC Abul Kashem Sarkar said that the BGB has arrested 121 people, including women and children, while infiltrating through the Barolekha border. They were handed over to Barolekha Police Station in the morning. The family members of the detainees have been informed. They will be released in custody when their relatives arrive.
Sources said that the said Bangladeshi citizens went to India at different times in search of livelihood. They are residents of Kurigram area. This can be confirmed by talking to the chairman and members of the area. All the documents and identity cards of all the citizens are kept by the BSF.
