Despite widespread allegations of money laundering, abuse of power and occupying important government positions, Hasina’s uncle Sheikh Kabir Hossain went abroad. He left the country for Singapore on a flight on Sunday morning.

82-year-old Sheikh Kabir Hossain is the cousin of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. As such, he is Sheikh Hasina’s uncle. He was also the president of the Gopalganj District Association. In this capacity, he was in the top positions of various organizations. But after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, he resigned from most of the organizations.
Investigations revealed that Sheikh Kabir was in the top positions of 23 organizations, including various companies, organizations and important organizations. These organizations include the chairman of the Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), a company that stores shares electronically, the chairman of Fareast Islamic Life Insurance, the chairman of Sonar Bangla Insurance, the chairman of the government-owned National Tea Company, the managing director of Kabico Limited, the managing director of Kabico Food Limited and Masuda Diary Nutrition, and the independent director of Best Holding (La Meridian Hotel). He was also the President of Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA), Chairman of Private University Association, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FarEast International University, Vice Chairman of Islami Eye Hospital, Member of the Board of Governors of Bangladesh Open University, Chairman of Health and Education for the Local Underprivileged People and Chairman of Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain Foundation.
