After the recent end of the war with Pakistan, India is once again facing a critical situation. Curfew has been imposed due to ongoing protests in the Indian state of Manipur, and the internet has been shut down. Amidst this political unrest, the infection of coronavirus has started increasing again in the country.

According to Indian media reports, the number of Covid-19 infected people in the country has crossed 6,000. In the last 24 hours, 769 new coronavirus cases have been detected. Several deaths have also occurred.

In terms of infection, the number of infected people is increasing rapidly in several states including Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi. ‘News n Bangla’ reported that the infected people are showing symptoms like sore throat, hoarseness, voice changes, stomach pain, diarrhea and fever.

According to experts, a new Omicron variant of coronavirus spreading in India has increased the speed of infection.

In this context, precautionary measures have also been taken in Bangladesh. Screening activities have been intensified at all international airports and seaports of the country under the direction of the Directorate General of Health Services. Passengers arriving from India are being tested for corona symptoms, especially at the Benapole check post.

Earlier, on June 4, an order signed by the Director of the Disease Control Branch of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Md. Farhad Hossain, issued a general alert. The order has directed to strengthen the health screening of passengers arriving from abroad, including India, and the activities of the health desk.

Abdul Majid, Deputy Assistant Medical Officer of the Benapole Check Post Immigration Health Department, said that a new type of corona has been identified in genetic sequence analysis in India. To prevent this type from spreading in Bangladesh, every passenger returning to India is being tested.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railways has instructed passengers to follow hygiene rules and wear masks on the return journey of trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Directorate General of Health Services said that three people have been identified with corona in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh. However, no deaths have been reported during this time.
