National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said, ‘We have demanded reforms in the country, we have demanded justice, we have demanded a new constitution. But a party is standing against these public demands. They want to do politics by preserving the old settlement. They want to perpetuate extortion and terrorism.

He said, if they think they will do old politics even after so many people lost their lives in the mass uprising, then it will not be so easy. The power of the mass uprising is still in the field.

He said these things at a road meeting at Asif Chattar, Khulna Road intersection, Satkhira city on Saturday (July 12) afternoon.

Nahid Islam said, they thought that they would snatch the power of the mass uprising by showing the lure of two to three seats and sharing of power. But those who are the power of the revolution, who have returned from the brink of death, no political party in Bangladesh could afford to buy them.

The NCP convener said, on August 5, we said, let’s form a national government. Let’s reconstruct the country. Let’s remove all divisions and build Bangladesh anew. They did not agree to our proposal. They said, elections should be held within three months. They said again, elections should be held within six months. I said, we do not want to create enemies within the country. We want to reconstruct the country.

Stating that the people of Satkhira have not yet received rail facilities, Nahid Islam said to the people, you want improvement in the education system, you want improvement in the health system, we have to protect our climate. We have to protect our Sundarbans. You will be with the NCP.

Stating that there is no reason to fear extortionists, he said, “The students and public of a country whose 16-year fascist dictatorship has been able to send Hasina to Delhi cannot be afraid of extortionists. You should unite, make new preparations. We have to build the Bangladesh state on the basis of justice.”

Nahid Islam said, “You should come to Dhaka in groups. We will come to Shaheed Minar on August 3, we will meet you. We will give a new manifesto against extortionist terrorism and will collect the July declaration.”

The road meeting was attended by NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain, joint member secretary Dr. Tasneem Zara, southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah, northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, senior joint convener Samantha Sharmin, southern region joint chief organizer Mezbah Kamal, and others.
