Government is patronizing recent killings and anarchists in the country: Tarique

The Daily Morning Sun Online //

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the government is patronizing recent killings and anarchists in the country. Why are those who are creating a ‘mob’ not being arrested?

Regarding the murder of scrap dealer Sohag in Old Dhaka, he said, “Why has the government not arrested the person I saw in the footage being killed? Should we assume that they are trying to create a situation by creating a ‘mob’ in various ways.”

The BNP Acting Chairman said these things while joining a program organized at the Lake Shore Grand Hotel in Gulshan, the capital, on Saturday, virtually from London. The meeting was organized by Chhatra Dal with the family members of the organization’s martyrs in the July-August mass uprising.

Assuring that the BNP will take the utmost initiative to ensure that all types of murders are tried fairly, Tarique Rahman said, “Invisible forces are gradually becoming visible. We will not give shelter to those who stand against freedom, democracy and the people in various ways. The responsibility of this interim government is to protect the lives and property of the people.”

Addressing the leaders and activists, the acting chairman of BNP said, “A new conspiracy has started. We all have to keep our eyes and ears open. Our movement to establish democracy and human rights, our war, is not over yet.”

He said, “We have never said once that so-and-so can be caught, so-and-so cannot be caught. We have always said that the wrongdoer will be tried in the eyes of the law. What is his relationship with the party, it does not matter. The party will not give him any shelter. If someone has done something wrong, then why is the administration not catching him?”

Tarique Rahman further said, I see in the newspapers – BNP is not accepting this, not accepting that, not accepting that reform. On the other hand, we see that many parties are accepting everything. We have come here to discuss, if everything has to be accepted, then what was the need for discussion? The government would have said that this and that must be done. But we have been called for discussion. In that discussion, I see that some people, including some sections of the media, are trying to highlight that – BNP is not accepting this, not accepting that. And some are accepting this, accepting that.

In this context, he further said, is there anyone else who is responsible for running the country except BNP? No one. So what BNP is accepting and what it is questioning, BNP is saying from experience. Because BNP knows, BNP has an idea. Whatever it does may be good for the country, and whatever it does may not be good for the country. BNP has a sense of responsibility. That is why BNP is highlighting its objections.

At the event, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “I will urge the government to investigate the incidents that are happening as soon as possible, find the real criminals and arrange peace. Otherwise, the nation will not forgive you.”

Addressing the leaders and activists, the BNP Secretary General said, “Those of you who have made sacrifices, wait patiently for a few days for democracy. Stop everyone so that no one can do wrong. BNP has never supported any wrongdoing.”

Chaired by Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and moderated by General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul spoke at the event. In addition, Badsha Mia, father of Shaheed Tanvir Siddiqui in Cox’s Bazar, Ishrat Jahan, sister of Shaheed Tahidul Islam in Barisal, and Md. Faruk Khan, Shaheed Md. Mohir Hossain’s brother Hasnain in Bhola, Shaheed Emon Mia’s brother Md. Sujan in Tangail, etc. spoke.

Expressed their opinions.
