Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that all those involved in the murder of Lal Chand, a scrap metal dealer in front of Mitford Hospital in the capital, have been brought under the law. Five people have been arrested in the incident.
The Home Affairs Advisor made this statement while briefing reporters after visiting the Dhaka District Police Lines, Range Reserve Force (RRF) and Traffic and Driving School (TDS) at Mill Barracks in Old Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Jahangir Alam said, “The police are taking immediate action not only in Mitford but in such incidents that occur across the country. However, the Mitford incident is very sad. Such an incident is never expected in a civilized country.”
The advisor said that two people were arrested from the scene immediately after the incident on Wednesday evening. Yesterday afternoon, RAB arrested two people with weapons. He said that one person was also arrested last night.
The Home Affairs Advisor urged people to inform the law enforcement agencies in case of any incident and not to take the law into their own hands. The advisor said that the law enforcement agencies are taking action in various incidents.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, SB Pradhan and Additional IGP of Police Md. Golam Rasul, DIG of Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallick and others were present during the briefing.
