Pakistani Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said there is no pressure on Pakistan to recognize Israel to satisfy the United States.
Speaking at an event for the expatriate community in Dallas, Texas, he said that Pakistan’s position on the Israel issue remains unchanged and any decision in this regard will be taken based on the country’s interests and policies. He said that there is no pressure on Pakistan from the United States to recognize Israel. Pakistan’s foreign policy is independent and conducted according to its own priorities.
Ambassador Rizwan said that Pakistan’s position on Israel is in line with the policies of the country’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Jinnah supported the rights of the Palestinian people and opposed the unjust occupation of their land.
The Pakistani ambassador’s comments came in the context of Israel’s recent normalization of relations with several Arab countries in the Middle East. However, Pakistan has repeatedly said that the country’s position is linked to a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
The ambassador also spoke about Pakistan-US relations. He said that the relationship between the two countries is moving in a positive direction and cooperation is increasing in various fields. He said that mutual partnerships are increasing in various sectors including technology, education, trade.
Ambassador Rizwan also highlighted the potential of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in Pakistan. He said that there is an opportunity for investment in this sector as the country has the necessary infrastructure including electricity. He called on Pakistani expatriates to invest in the country’s technology sector and participate in innovative initiatives.
He said that Pakistan is for peace, but will not compromise on the country’s defense and sovereignty.
Before the event, he also met with leaders of the Pakistani diaspora community. In the meeting, he called on the diaspora to play an active role in protecting Pakistan’s interests and playing a more responsible role in improving relations between the two countries.
