It is difficult to say how many such incidents have happened in the history of football. The match between Bangladesh and Bhutan in the SAFF Under-20 Championship today (Tuesday) was held on two grounds. The first half was played at the Kings Arena. But because this ground became unsuitable for play due to rain, the remaining half was played at the practice ground next door after a three-hour wait.

The Bangladesh girls maintained their dominance there and won easily by 4-1 goals. Shanti Mardi scored a hat-trick in the match.

It has been raining intermittently in Dhaka since today. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh-Bhutan match in the SAFF Under-20 Women’s SAFF Championship started with floodlights on. The two teams could not play rhythmic football on the muddy field.

In the 7th minute, Shanti Mardi found the net three times, giving Bangladesh the lead in the match for the first time. Peter Butler’s men went into the break with this one-goal lead on a muddy pitch.

Play was then stopped for about three hours. After a long wait, the condition of the pitch did not improve, so it was decided to play the rest of the match on the adjacent practice ground.

Bhutan equalized in the 53rd minute after the break by scoring a goal. Telden Aguan shot past the goalkeeper, but it was not successful. Wangmo received the ball and scored with a great placing shot.

However, Bangladesh then turned around and won by three goals in a row. Shanti scored his and the team’s second goal from a corner about four minutes after the goal. In the 76th minute, substitute Munki Akhter gifted the hosts the third goal. With a single effort, he entered the left side with the ball and finished perfectly past the goalkeeper.

Shanti scored a hat-trick in the 79th minute. He entered the box on Umelha’s cross and shook the net with a powerful shot. Bangladesh secured a 4-1 victory.

With this victory, Bangladesh remained at the top with a full 9 points after three matches.
