July martyrs memorial plaques will be installed at 864 places across the country, including Chittagong, said Faruk-e-Azam Bir Pratik, Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster and Relief. He said this at the inauguration ceremony of the construction of street memory stamps at Bahaddar Hat intersection in Chittagong city on Wednesday.
He said that these plaques will be installed in memory of the July martyrs at the places where they were martyred. At the same time, the trial of their murder will be expedited. For this, the government is working on the basis of collecting information and evidence. It is not a kangaroo court; the government is taking this trial process forward with time and transparency. In July-August of last year, 15 people were martyred in Chittagong during the anti-fascist movement.
Among them, 8 people including Wasim, Shanto, Faruk, Tanvir, Simon lost their lives in Muradpur under Panchlaish police station of the city. In their memory, Advisor Faruk-e-Azam inaugurated the construction of a street memorial stamp at Bahaddarhat intersection yesterday.
At that time, among others, Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md. Ziauddin, Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammad Touhidul Islam, Deputy Director of Local Government Branch Md. Noman Hossain and others were present with him.
After the construction of the street memory stamp, the advisor visited the memorial under construction in memory of the martyrs of Panchlaish in the city. The martyr’s family members were also present at the time.
