It is not right to do politics by selling religion: Gayeshwar Chandra Roy

Keraniganj Correspondent //

BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, it is not right to do politics by selling religion. Religion is the spiritual belief and morality of the people; it is not right to use it for political gain. Misleading people by making religion a political tool has become a political strategy; but people are now aware, they will not fall for these deceptions easily. Bangladesh believes in non-communalism. It should be our political responsibility to ensure that people of all religions can live here safely and with dignity.

He said these things as the chief guest at a tree plantation program organized by the Dhaka District Farmers’ Party in memory of the July martyrs at Nazirpur ground in Tegharia Union of South Keraniganj Police Station on Sunday morning.

Gayeshwar Chandra also said that although those who directly opposed independence have been forgiven, their crimes have not been forgotten. If the work that was left to be done in 1971 is started now, the consequences will not be good. The sacrifices of the July martyrs and the realization of their aspirations must be kept in the heart of the July Revolution.

Referring to Jamaat-e-Islami, this senior BNP leader said, “If the people forget the deeds of the defeated forces of 1971 and vote for them, we will respect them. You have not yet admitted the crimes and mistakes you committed in the Liberation War. We have forgiven, but we have not forgotten.”

The program was chaired by Dhaka District Krishak Dal convener Jewel Mollah and moderated by Member Secretary Advocate Abu Hanif. South Keraniganj Thana BNP General Secretary Mojadded Ali was the special guest.

Also present at the program were Tegharia Union BNP convener Khorshed Alam Zamindar, joint convener Sirajul Islam Siraj, member Ismail Mollah, Chhatra Dal leader Khalil Mia, Swechchhasebak Dal leader Rana Ahmed, and leaders of BNP and allied organizations.

Expressed their opinions.
