Chief Advisor expresses condolences over plane crash casualties

A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into a building at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara. The aircraft crashed 12 minutes after takeoff.

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has given a video message expressing condolences over the plane crash casualties. It has been published on the Chief Advisor’s verified Facebook page.

The death toll in the crash has increased to 20. 171 people were injured and burned. The ISPR said this in a statement on Monday evening. In addition, the ISPR also reported the number of injured admitted to various hospitals.

1. Kuwait Friendship Hospital: 8 injured, no deaths

2. National Burn Institute: 70 injured, 2 deaths

3. Dhaka Medical College: 3 injured, 1 death

4. CMH-Dhaka: 17 injured, 12 deaths

5. Kurmitola General Hospital: 1 injured, 2 killed

6. Lubna General Hospital and Cardiac Center, Uttara: 11 injured, 2 killed

7. Uttara Modern Hospital: 60 injured, 1 killed

8. Uttara Crescent Hospital: 1 injured, no killed.

A total of 171 people are being treated for injuries in these eight hospitals. 20 people died.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Air Force’s ‘F-7 BGI’ training aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff at 1:06 pm on Monday.

The aircraft caught fire immediately after crashing into an academic building of the school. Smoke could be seen rising from a long distance. Eight units of the fire service rushed to the scene to douse the flames of the burning aircraft.

Shah Bulbul, public relations officer of Milestone School and College, said that the aircraft crashed into the gate of a building. It was an academic building. School children were studying there. Many people were burnt in the fire.

Meanwhile, a day of national mourning has been declared today, Tuesday, in the wake of the plane crash. The national flag will be flown at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and educational institutions of the country. In addition, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in all government, private buildings and Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Special prayers will be organized in all religious places of worship in the country for the injured and killed.
