The Israeli army has killed at least 67 Palestinians who came to receive UN aid in the northern Gaza Strip. However, the Israeli Defense Forces say they immediately fired warning shots. BBC News
On Sunday, the Health Ministry said that six more people were killed while waiting for aid in other parts of Gaza. In addition, more than 150 people were injured, many of whom are in serious condition. Earlier, 36 people were killed in the same way on Saturday.
The UN also said that ordinary people in Gaza are suffering from hunger and the supply of basic goods needs to be increased on an urgent basis.
The casualties in northern Gaza have been taken to Gaza’s Shifa Hospital. The hospital’s medical director, Dr. Hassan al-Shayar, told the BBC on Sunday that the hospital is struggling to treat the injured. Some of the injured are being sent to other nearby field hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has ordered a fresh evacuation of a densely populated area in central Gaza where no ground operations against Hamas have been carried out in 21 months.
The IDF said on Sunday that residents and refugees in the town of Deir al-Balah had been ordered to immediately evacuate and move to the al-Mawasi area on the Mediterranean coast. The order, which could signal future attacks, has sparked panic among thousands of Palestinians.
