Uttara plane crash: 40 patients admitted to Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, 5 critical

So far, 40 patients have been admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute after a Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed at Milestone School and College in the capital’s Uttara area. Five of them are in critical condition.

Acting Director of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin, gave this information at a press conference around 5:30 pm on Friday (July 25).

Dr. Nasir Uddin said, currently, five patients are in critical condition at our institute. Besides, 10 are in the severe group and 25 are in the intermediate stage. Out of these, 15 have been transferred to the cabin.

He also said that two patients who were on ventilation are now alert and can breathe on their own. This is a relief news. Although we lost two from Friday morning to noon. However, the condition of the patients is improving somewhat in the last 24 hours.

Nasir Uddin said, considering today’s situation, there is a plan to discharge four to five patients tomorrow (Saturday). We are hopeful that a few more patients will be discharged in the next phase.

On the morning of July 21, a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in the capital. Classes were going on at the institution at the time of the accident; students and teachers were present in the room at the time. This tragic incident has cast a shadow of deep grief across the country.
