Two Bangladeshis were killed and one injured in BSF firing in Parshuram, Feni. The body of one of them is at Bilnia Hospital in India. The deceased are Liton (32) and Md. Millat Hossain (21). On the other hand, a person named Md. Afsar (30), who was shot, is undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The incident took place at around 12 midnight on Thursday in the Baspadua border area of the upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, commander of the BGB’s Feni Battalion (4 BGB), confirmed this information.
The deceased Liton is the son of Gachi Mia of Baspadua area of Parshuram Municipality. And Millat is the son of Yusuf Mia of the same area. The injured Afsar is the son of their neighbor, deceased Air Ahmed.
Initially, it was reported that one person died in the incident last night, but later it was learned that another Bangladeshi died in Bilnia, India in the incident.
According to local sources, Liton, Millat and Afsar crossed the 2164/3S pillar under Guthuma BOP on Thursday night and went near the Indian border. Then, BSF members opened fire on them. At that time, the BSF took the bullet-scarred Liton to India. Locals rescued Millat and Afsar in serious condition and took them first to the Parashuram Upazila Health Complex and later to the Feni General Hospital. Millat died while undergoing treatment there.
In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, commander of the BGB’s Feni Battalion (4 BGB), said that the BSF has recovered various contraband from the Baspadua border. People from both countries are involved in these activities. BGB members are constantly investigating after receiving information about the BSF firing incident. Shooting incidents on the border are not desirable in any way. A written protest has been lodged by the BGB in this regard.
Two shot dead in Chapainawabganj: Two youths were allegedly shot dead in BSF firing at the Shingnagar border in Chapainawabganj. However, the BGB has confirmed that one person was injured. The incident took place at around 4 am on Thursday in the area of 1S Pillar of Pillar 4, Sub Pillar 5 of the international border at the Shingnagar border in Manaksha Union of Shibganj Upazila.
The two youths who were shot are Selim (25), son of Ariful Islam Hanif of Panditpara village of Manaksha Union of Shibganj Upazila, and Sumon (28), son of Sultan of Tarapur Mandalpara village of the same union.
According to local residents and BGB sources, when a group of people went to the border area around 4 am on Thursday, members of the Daulatpur camp of the Indian 71 BSF Battalion opened fire on them. Selim and Sumon were shot dead. At that time, other companions who were with them rescued them. Local sources said that after keeping them in a secret place all day, they were receiving treatment in the afternoon in hiding. However, the BGB has only reported that Selim was injured.
Local UP member Serajul Islam said, I have heard about the incident. I do not know where they are receiving treatment after being shot.
53 BGB commander Lt. Col. Fahad Mahmud Rinku said in a press note on WhatsApp at noon that the BSF of Daulatpur camp was contacted by the Shinnagar BOP in this regard, they admitted to chasing smugglers in the border area, but said that no shots were fired from their side. He said that when attempts were made to go to the homes of the injured to verify the truth of the incident, no one wanted to talk about it from the family and they avoided the issue.
