The Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said, the elections will be held in February. There is no force that can prevent it. All the departments involved in the conduct of the elections are already working on the issue. We want to see a peaceful election. I hope that it will be possible with everyone’s cooperation.
He said this in response to questions from journalists after visiting the graves of martyrs Mehedi Hasan Rabbi and Al Amin in the July uprising in Parandwali, Magura on Friday afternoon.
The Press Secretary said, to uphold the dignity of those who gave their lives for an independent country for us, everyone must unite to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
He said, the monsoon season in Bangladesh starts from June to September. When the monsoon season ends, you will see that the election mood has descended in the neighborhoods. Potential candidates will go door to door to vote. There will be polling offices in every neighborhood. This election mood will spread everywhere. We are sure, then if anyone has any doubts, that doubt will be gone. The elections will be held in February and before Ramadan.
The press secretary also said, a total of 10 people were martyred in Magura in July-August. Mehedi Hasan Rabbi was martyred by the murderous forces of the Awami League Jubo League. He was a local leader of the Chhatra Dal. I went to his grave. Al Amin from the same area used to run a small business in Dhaka. He was also shot dead. His grave is on the outskirts of Magura. I went there to pay flowers. There are a total of 10 martyrs in Magura district. I will go to the graves of each of the remaining 8.
Shafiqul Alam said, these martyrs are the builders of the new Bangladesh. As a result of their sacrifice, we have got a new country. We are all able to speak openly on this day. We are now doing political settlement. There will be a beautiful election ahead. We got the new Bangladesh because of the martyrs. That is why we paid tribute to them by placing flowers at the grave.
