The deep depression located in the Bay of Bengal has crossed the coast. It is currently located in the form of a land depression in coastal Odisha and adjacent areas of India. The deep depression may move further and gradually weaken. However, due to the fear of gusty winds due to its influence, alert number 3 is being maintained at 4 seaports of the country.
The latest special bulletin (Notice-5) of the Meteorological Department has stated that the deep depression located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards. On Thursday (October 2), at around 6 pm, it crossed the Odisha coast of India near Gopalpur and is currently located in the form of a land depression in coastal Odisha and adjacent areas.
It further states that the deep depression may move further north-northwestwards and gradually weaken. However, due to its influence, there is an excess of air pressure variation in the North Bay of Bengal area. Along with this, gusty or squally winds may blow over the North Bay of Bengal, coastal areas and seaports of Bangladesh.
In this situation, the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to display local warning signal number 3. Along with this, fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal have been asked to move carefully near the coast until further orders.
