Police working tirelessly to restore public trust: IGP

Dhaka //

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said that the police will be able to prove professionalism, impartiality and sense of responsibility in the upcoming national elections. The police stand at an important juncture today. We are working tirelessly to boost the morale of the force members and restore public trust.

He said this to the ASP probationers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch, who were initially selected in 2008 and recently joined, at the Hall of Integrity of the Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

The IGP said, this is not just a personal success; it is the re-establishment of your rightful position. The victory of the anti-discrimination movement led by the students and the public has opened the door to your long-standing deprivation. You have restored your legitimate rights. Each of you has vast experience in your previous workplace. That experience will serve as your strength and professional guide.

The police chief said, today we are standing in a new world. Crime is increasing in the cyber world, public opinion is being formed through social media. In the current reality, policing through physical force or traditional methods alone will not do. Now, intelligence, global awareness and technological adaptability are needed. As the future leadership of the police, your integrity and professionalism must also extend to the digital realm.

The IGP urged the ASP probationers to undergo training at the Police Academy while maintaining punctuality, discipline and strict adherence to rules and regulations. Among them, there are 60 officers from the 27th batch, one from the 28th batch and 6 from the 43rd batch. The deprived officers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch were appointed after a long legal process.

Additional IGP (Administration) AKM Awlad Hossain, Additional IGP (Finance) Akram Hossain, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khondaker Rafiqul Islam, Additional IGP (Logistics) Musleh Uddin Ahmed and Additional IGP (Development) Sardar Nurul Amin were present at the event.
