A special information service has been launched to ensure accurate, reliable and verified information for citizens in the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum. This service is being provided through a2i’s National Helpline 333 in collaboration with the Bangladesh Election Commission. This special initiative has been taken with the aim of making the election process more transparent, participatory and citizen-friendly.
From now on, citizens will get necessary information and assistance related to the election by calling the completely toll-free number 333 from any mobile operator in the country and pressing 9. Under this service, voters will be able to know the rules and procedures for voting, the location of their respective polling stations and all information related to national identity cards. In addition, information regarding the election code of conduct, voting rules for expatriate voters and special facilities for disabled, elderly and women voters will also be available here.
In addition, details are being provided about emergency instructions, necessary contact numbers and the method of using the Smart Election Management System and Postal Voting App prescribed by the Election Commission.
This special service, which was launched on a pilot basis on January 16, has already provided 1,643 citizens with necessary information and assistance. This helpline will not only provide information services, but will also serve as a helpful medium to receive information regarding the law and order situation and to quickly notify the relevant authorities by identifying potential unrest in advance.
However, it will not directly function as a police control room; rather, it will operate as an ‘Information Intake, Early Warning and Forwarding System’. The information received will be quickly forwarded to the national emergency service 999 or the relevant authorities as needed.
