With the month of December approaching, the banned Awami League is secretly preparing for processions, rallies, and acts of sabotage in Mirergaon, under the Jalalabad Police Station area of ​​Sylhet Sadar. A major, well-planned campaign of subversion has been initiated to destabilize Sylhet city; such alarming information has emerged from on-the-ground investigations.

Relevant sources indicate that certain rogue elements—autocratic Awami League collaborators—from Ward No. 7 and Ward No. 8 (Kandigaon Union) of the Mirergaon area are working in concert to orchestrate terrorist activities. During the tenure of the previous Awami government, ordinary local residents were held hostage by their intimidation; even media personnel feared publishing reports against them. Orchestrating conspiratorial attacks and implicating people in false lawsuits were daily routines for these terrorists. At that time, they would openly parade in broad daylight brandishing both domestic and foreign weapons. However, these armed individuals went into hiding after the autocratic Awami government was ousted during the July uprising on August 5th. Reliable sources have confirmed that they have recently become active again, plotting attacks and organizing banned party activities.

Several individuals, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that a group of 8 to 10 people is secretly attempting to coordinate these banned activities from the Badaghat area, near Sylhet Central Jail. These criminal elements chose the secluded Badaghat area to evade the scrutiny of intelligence agencies and the administration. Planning sessions for these illicit activities are also occasionally held in private residences. Many BNP leaders and activists remain silent out of fear of them. To carry out these banned operations, they are spending vast sums of illicit money on their cadres. This massive funding is being supplied by expatriates living in London, America, and France. Ali Akbar (son of the late Shamsor Ali), Kibria (son of the late Nur Uddin), and Khalil (son of the late Riaz Uddin)—all from Mirergaon village in Tuker Bazar—are acting as their godfathers. They are also being aided by Akkal Ali (son of the late Shafat Ullah), Ali Amjad (son of the late Shamsor Ali), and several others from the same area.

These cohorts of the Awami autocracy had previously—back in 2012—savagely attacked Md. Abul Khair, the then-Vice President of the Sylhet District BNP, at Court Point (under the jurisdiction of Sylhet Sadar Kotwali Police Station). They hacked him with a *ramda* (large machete), slicing open his abdomen and exposing his intestines, all while celebrating the act. The incident had dominated media headlines at the time. Fortunately, Abul Khair survived after undergoing advanced medical treatment for a prolonged period. Although he subsequently sought legal recourse, he failed to secure justice. Eventually, left with no other option, he was forced to leave the country. Now, those same terrorist thugs are once again roaming about brazenly, right under the administration’s nose.

Meanwhile, a reliable source within the Jalalabad Police Station has confirmed that the matter is being closely monitored and that legal steps are being initiated. When contacted via mobile phone regarding this issue, former BNP Vice President Abul Khair stated that these terrorists—affiliated with the now-banned Awami League—remain beyond the reach of the law. He remarked that peace could be restored to the locality if the administration took appropriate action, emphasizing the importance of ensuring justice.
