A delegation of 4 members led by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Varma met with the Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan.
The Indian High Commissioner met the advisor in the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Wednesday.
Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources welcomed the Indian High Commissioner and said that this government is not like other governments. This government has been formed after the blood and sacrifice of many students. He took this responsibility out of a sense of responsibility to those who gave their lives and were injured.
The adviser said that after assuming office, he suspended the controversial laws and repealed Article 34A. BERC arranged to raise electricity prices through public hearings. The secretaries have been removed from the post of chairman of the companies under their control and have taken the initiative to form a new board consisting of people with experience and knowledge in the relevant field. A committee consisting of judges is making arrangements to review the previous agreements and whether there has been any corruption or not. He has already visited the 800 MW power plant at Rupsa and the Padma railway line and bridge project.
Congratulating the advisor, Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma said that his government is keen to work sincerely with the Bangladesh government. At this time, he mentioned the geographical importance of Bangladesh and said that India is interested in working with Bangladesh in order to continue the ongoing projects.
Various development projects are ongoing on the basis of partnership between the two countries in various fields including electricity, energy, roads and railways. The High Commissioner requested to ensure the safety of the Indians working in the ongoing projects and assured the immediate commencement of work on all the projects. During this time solar energy and floating solar park were discussed. Power connectivity between Nepal, Bhutan, India and Bangladesh was also discussed in detail in the light of BIMSTEC proposal.
