Two more children have died across the country exhibiting symptoms of measles. This brings the total number of deaths involving measles symptoms to 948. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed measles deaths stands at 100.

This information was disclosed yesterday, Friday (September 18), in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular report on measles.

The report stated that while there were no confirmed measles deaths between 8:00 AM Thursday and 8:00 AM Friday, two people died with suspected measles. Consequently, the total death toll from measles-related illnesses since April 10 has reached 1,048.

Additionally, 52 new cases of confirmed measles were detected, alongside 1,245 new suspected cases.

According to DGHS data, 177,725 suspected measles cases have been identified since April 10, while 20,395 confirmed cases were detected during the same period.

Division-wise, the highest number of confirmed measles deaths—63—occurred in Dhaka. Other fatalities included 19 in Barishal, 10 in Chattogram, three each in Sylhet and Rajshahi, and two in Mymensingh.

Similarly, the highest number of deaths attributed to suspected measles—426—occurred in the Dhaka division. Fatalities in other divisions included 165 in Sylhet, 93 in Rajshahi, 77 in Mymensingh, 74 in Chattogram, 59 in Barishal, 40 in Khulna, and 14 in Rangpur.
