Pawan Kumar Tulshidas Badhe, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, has called for the expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and India, the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers, and the further strengthening of commercial connectivity between the two nations.

He highlighted these issues during a courtesy meeting yesterday (Sunday) with Md. Fazlul Hoque, the Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), at the latter’s Gulshan office. The FBCCI disclosed this information in a press release.

During the meeting, the Deputy High Commissioner emphasized the need to form a B2B (business-to-business) task force to boost investment and trade between the two countries. He stated that his office is maintaining regular communication and discussions with the governments of both nations to accelerate the process of establishing this task force. In this regard, he sought the cooperation of FBCCI leaders and the Bangladeshi private sector.

The Indian Deputy High Commissioner noted that visa procedures for Bangladeshis traveling to India have currently been simplified across all categories. He added that the Indian High Commission is issuing a large number of visas daily.

The FBCCI Administrator remarked that the formation of a joint task force could play a fruitful role in increasing bilateral trade and fostering mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and India. He urged businesspeople and entrepreneurs from both countries to work collaboratively to advance investment and trade in emerging and high-potential sectors.
