The government has dismissed six police officers—including Md. Asaduzzaman, the former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dhaka district, and Mohammad Sanwar Hossain of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU)—on charges of “misconduct and unauthorized absence” (desertion).

The other four officers are: Arifur Rahman Mondal, former SP of Sirajganj; Rajib Das, former Deputy Commissioner of the Secretariat Security Division; and two officers from the Armed Police Battalion (APBn)—former Additional DIG Mohammad Jayedul Alam and Additional SP Palash Ranjan Dey.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications regarding this matter on Monday.

Former SP Asaduzzaman was attached to the Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi; he had been absent from his workplace since September 17, 2024. Former SP Mohammad Sanwar Hossain, attached to the Barishal Range DIG office, had been absent since January 1, 2025.

Former SP Arifur Rahman Mondal, also attached to the Barishal Range DIG office, had been absent since February 19, 2025. Rajib Das, a former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) attached to the DMP, had been absent since November 2, 2024, while former Additional DIG Mohammad Jayedul Alam, attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office, had been absent since November 4, 2024. Palash Ranjan Dey, an Additional SP with APBn-7 in Sylhet, has been absent from his workplace since August 12, 2025.

The notifications stated that the allegations brought against the officers were substantiated through departmental proceedings, leading to the decision to dismiss them.
