With the support of the people, BNP wants to run the country through a ‘national government’ in the future, said BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman. He said, “After independence, the country was divided from the first day because the party government of Awami League came to power instead of a national government. As a result, a large section could not contribute to the nation building despite their desire. We do not want to repeat the opportunity that was missed that day without using the power of national unity after independence.
Tariq Rahman also said that those who participated in the struggle to restore democracy and voting rights for the people of this country will participate in the governance of the country in the coming days. So that the country is not deprived of the benefits of their contribution.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman said these words during an exchange of views with the field level leaders and activists of BNP’s Dhaka division on Wednesday. At that time, members of the party’s standing committee, Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moin Khan and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy were present.
Acting Chairman of BNP said, “I feel it is necessary to inform the countrymen about another important reform plan of ours. There are numerous scholars, talented teachers, artists-writers, journalists, researchers, doctors, experts and human rights activists who are not related to traditional politics in the country, but want to participate in the formation, development and management of the country; But in the current constitutional framework, they have no opportunity to contribute as members of Parliament. BNP wants to see bicameral parliament system with upper house incorporated in the constitution to utilize their services and contribution in the work of the country.
Tariq Rahman said, “I can only humbly inform about our plans and goodwill for the future.” Because, we know, only the support of the people of the country can help us implement our plans.
Pointing to who will be in the national government, Tariq Rahman said, ‘People will definitely not want to see those parties or individuals involved in the national government, who turned the entire country into a party and family’s private property. Those who burdened each of us with a debt burden of one and a half lakh rupees in the name of so-called development and smuggled thousands, lakhs of crores of rupees abroad. Missing-murders, assault-cases and torture have brought life to the people of the country. Daily necessities have been taken out of people’s reach. All the pillars of the state including law, judiciary, executive department have been broken and crushed. Even before fleeing, the entire country including the capital has been stained with the blood of hundreds of innocent people. The people will certainly not want to see those oppressors included in the national government.
Acting Chairman of BNP advised the leaders and workers to gain trust and confidence by aligning themselves with the hopes and language of the people in the current situation. Along with that, he instructed to apply his political wisdom and strategy to deal with the ‘invisible adversary’ that has emerged in recent times. He said, ‘Why should you let your sacrifices and contributions be damaged by the misdeeds of a handful of miscreants? Be careful, be aware, prevent.’
