Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milan conducted surprise inspections of six printing presses in the capital late at night.

He visited these presses after midnight on Monday (September 28) to verify the quality of textbooks intended for the 2027 academic year. The Ministry of Education’s Public Relations Department released this information around 1:00 AM.

During the inspection, the Education Minister examined the quality of sample books and personally inspected the printing process and overall book quality.

According to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), initiatives are underway to print a total of 309,228,439 copies of textbooks for the 2027 academic year, catering to students in pre-primary, primary, *Ibtedayi* (primary-level madrasa), secondary, and ethnic minority groups. Printing operations are currently in full swing.

Of this total, 82,167,730 copies will be printed for pre-primary, primary, and ethnic minority students. Additionally, 33,296,400 copies will be printed for *Ibtedayi* students (grades 1 through 5), while plans are in place to print approximately 180 million books for students in grades 6 through 9.

At the secondary level, the highest volume of books is designated for the ninth grade, with plans to print 55,627,235 copies for this grade alone. Furthermore, 9,004 copies of Braille books will be printed for visually impaired students.

Several new subjects are being introduced in the 2027 academic year textbooks. Books for subjects such as ‘Sports’ and ‘Our Culture’ for the fourth grade, and ‘Joyful Learning’ and ‘Technical Education’ for the sixth grade, will be printed. Preparations are underway to print these new subject books, along with other revised and updated texts, and distribute them to educational institutions within the scheduled timeframe. Officials associated with the NCTB stated that the government will spend Tk 1,890 crore 16 lakh 39 thousand 328 on printing textbooks this time.
