LP gas operators have assured the Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources that there is no shortage of LP gas in the domestic market. This assurance was given yesterday, Monday (September 28), during an exchange meeting organized by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

The meeting was convened to review the country’s current LPG import volumes, stock and supply status, market prices, and related matters. Power Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud presided over the meeting.

The overall scenario of the country’s LPG sector was presented and reviewed during the meeting. According to data from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), 157,760 metric tons of LPG were imported last August, and 118,742 metric tons were imported up to September 22. The data indicates a healthy supply and stock situation within the country; consequently, LPG importers and operators confirmed at the meeting that there is currently no shortage of LP gas.

The Energy Minister urged everyone to remain vigilant to ensure that, despite adequate LPG stocks, no supply shortages occur at the consumer level and that no one creates public hardship through malicious hoarding. The operators pledged their full cooperation to the Minister.

Additionally, the Minister listened to the operators regarding various obstacles in their business operations and instructed the Energy Division to resolve these issues promptly. He stated that the Ministry would provide all-out support to remove any barriers to LP gas imports. The Minister assured the meeting that all necessary steps would be taken to make life easier for the people and sought everyone’s sincere cooperation in maintaining a stable energy situation in the country.
