Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Industries, Commerce, and Textiles & Jute, stated that innovative thinking, talent, and new ideas must be cultivated to boost productivity.
He made these remarks on Friday (October 2) while serving as the chief guest at an event held at BCIC College in Mirpur, Dhaka. The event included a visit to an innovation exhibition, a discussion meeting, and an award distribution ceremony marking National Productivity Day 2026.
The Minister noted that productivity is an ongoing process with no ultimate limit. The core objective of productivity is to achieve higher volumes of high-quality output within fewer working hours.
He described productivity as a culture, noting that nations embracing this culture have achieved consistent progress. The essence of productivity lies in an individual achieving greater output in less time. He also pointed out that productivity is always a relative concept, and there is constant scope for further improvement.
Commending the innovative thinking and talent of the college students, the Industries Minister said he was inspired by the various innovative ideas and intellectual creativity displayed at the exhibition. Although many of these ideas have not yet been transformed into actual machines or products, they could serve as a vital foundation for future innovations.
He said, “We will meet later with those who have been recognized today for their excellent innovative ideas. Experts will evaluate which ideas are commercially viable and eligible for funding as startups.”
Khandaker Abdul Muktadir stated that the government wishes to assist in turning the innovative ideas of young people into reality. If a student comes forward with a promising idea, the government and relevant institutions will stand by them.
Assuring necessary support to transform the college into a modern and exemplary educational institution, he mentioned that initiatives would be taken to ensure essential facilities—such as modern technology, CCTV systems, and projectors—for the students.
Subsequently, the Minister distributed awards to the students who won in various categories at the innovation fair. Prior to this, he visited the various stalls at the exhibition. Presided over by Nayeb Ali, Director General of the National Productivity Organization, the event featured speeches by Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries; Colonel Dr. Md. Moksed Ali, Principal of BCIC College; as well as guardians and students.
