Awami League presidium member and former minister Shahjahan Khan has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). The police arrested him from the capital Dhaka on Thursday night.

DB chief Additional Commissioner of Police Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the matter.

He said that Shahjahan Khan was arrested from Dhanmondi area of ​​the capital. Several cases have been filed against him.

Shahjahan Khan was elected Member of Parliament for the eighth consecutive time from Madaripur-2 Constituency. Shajahan Khan is the Executive President of Bangladesh Workers Federation. In 1986, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly from Madaripur-2 constituency for the first time as an independent candidate.

From the same seat, he was later elected as a member of parliament in the elections of 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014, 2018 and the last in 2024 on the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League.
