The committee formed to investigate all cases of disappearances from January 1, 2010 to August 5 this year has decided to issue a public notice in search of missing persons.

This information was informed in a press release sent from the Cabinet Department on Sunday.

It said that government law enforcement agencies namely Bangladesh Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Branch, Intelligence Branch, Ansar Battalion, National Intelligence Agency (NSI), Defense Force , the Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI), has set up a five-member Commission of Inquiry to trace persons who have been forcibly disappeared by any member of the country’s law enforcement and enforcement agencies, including the Coast Guard.

The first meeting of the commission was held at the office of the commission in Gulshan under the chairmanship of the president of the commission, Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury, at 11 am on September 8. All members of the commission were present in the meeting.

In the meeting it was decided that a public notice would be issued to search for the missing persons. The activities of the commission will be conducted as usual from 10 am to 6 pm every day except public holidays.

The government has formed a 5-member commission to investigate all the cases of disappearances from January 1, 2010 to August 5 this year. Former High Court Judge Mainul Islam Chowdhury has been nominated as the head of the commission.

Earlier on August 27, this commission was formed by the Cabinet Department by order of the President.
