A healthy mind as well as a healthy body is equally important for living a normal life. Therefore, World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on October 10 through various events to raise awareness about mental health.
1. Today, October 10 is World Mental Health Day. This day is celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries. This year’s theme of the day is “It is the time to prioritize mental health in workplace”.
All of us are working people and spend a long time in the workplace. Workplace is the reliable place of our life and livelihood. Through action we save ourselves and save the family. Everyone has the right to a completely safe and healthy workplace environment. And a major part of this health is mental health.
If the mind and mental health are not right, people lose their motivation, become unemployed, fired and lose their jobs. As a result, Amanisha’s dark night came down in her and her family’s life. 12 billion working days are lost every year due to anxiety and depression alone.
2. In some workplaces, people are under a lot of stress due to various reasons (such as harassment, bullying, rudeness, non-cooperation). As a result, it causes depression, anxiety, depression, drug addiction, personality problems, other serious mental illnesses, and various physical ailments. A negative workplace environment creates emotional problems and long-term stress on the mind. These emotional difficulties at work can derail an individual and a family. This matter is more important for our country because in our country there are usually one or two working people in a family.
3. It is therefore understood that promoting and ensuring mental health in the workplace is of vital importance to individuals, society and the state. For this, the foremost need is to extend the hand of social awareness and solidarity and cooperation to everyone in the workplace.
4. What to do to ensure good mental health at work- a. Everyone’s positive attitude towards mental health. b. In the work place, the mental troubles can be removed by the skillful arrangement of colleagues with each other, conversation, eating, family bonding. c. Expressing cooperation and empathy towards colleagues. d. Colleagues will be friends with each other, so that they do not hesitate to accept each other’s help. e. Do not bully, harass, insult, abuse, belittle any colleague. f. Sharing the sorrows, pains and sufferings of colleagues and helping to solve problems. G. Some recreational, cultural activities in the workplace can play an important role in maintaining healthy mental health. h. If possible, encourage co-workers to seek mental health services if symptoms of mental illness are observed. Jh. A healthy mental health friendly environment is essential for a healthy life. We need to be stress-free, cheerful and empathetic towards each other. In this, the worker will live, his family will live.
