Bangladesh has created history in the ongoing Asian U-21 Hockey Championship in Muscat, Oman. The red-green team has secured a ticket to the Youth World Cup by defeating Thailand 7-2. As a result, Bangladesh will be seen in the Youth World Cup for the first time.
Bangladesh had to be in the sixth place to get a place in the World Cup. The goal has been fulfilled thanks to this victory. With this victory, Bangladesh will now play the fifth and sixth place matches. Even if they lose in that match, they will be sixth. That is, Bangladesh has confirmed their ticket to play in the Youth World Cup.
Seven teams from Asia will play in the Youth World Cup next year, including the host India. India has already confirmed the semi-finals of the Asian U-21 Hockey Championship. As a result, they will not play in the Youth World Cup as hosts, but directly. Bangladesh is now one of the remaining six teams.
The boys’ division of the Junior Asia Cup with 10 teams in Muscat began on November 26. Bangladesh, who defeated Oman 3-1 in their first match in Group B, lost 6-0 to Pakistan in the second match.
In the third match, Bangladesh drew 2-2 with strong Malaysia. In the fourth match, they also drew 1-1 with China. Then came the expected victory today. Thanks to this victory, Bangladesh’s dream of playing in the Youth World Cup for the first time is going to be fulfilled.
