A school student named Abir Ahmed (14) was tragically killed after being hit by a passenger bus while playing football on the road. The accident occurred around 11:30 am on Sunday near Kamalganj Abdul Matin Community Center on the Zakiganj-Sylhet road.

The deceased Abir Ahmed is a ninth-grade student of Kamalganj School and College in Ganipur and the only son of Bahar Uddin of Daulatpur village in Barthakuri UP.

Quoting local witnesses, he said that initially he received information that some boys were playing football on the Zakiganj-Sylhet road. In the meantime, suddenly, a Sylhet-bound gatelock bus hit the school student Abir. He was seriously injured. The locals immediately took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Upon receiving the news of the incident, a police team went to the spot and seized the car, but the driver fled.

Zakiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahirul Islam Munna confirmed the death of a school student in a road accident.
